On April 6, 2019, at approximately 4:26 PM, CHP Sergeant Steve Licon was struck and killed on the 15 freeway near Lake Elsinore by a suspected DUI driver. Riverside Sergeant Licon is a 27 year veteran of the California Highway Patrol. Licon was conducting a traffic stop behind a Chrysler sedan when a gray Toyota Corolla crashed into his motorcycle.
Sergeant Licon is survived by his wife, Ann, son Stephen and daughters Marissa and Kelly. He was preceded in death by his son, Nathan.
